Premier leadership program designed to enrich skillset; empower individuals to advance to more senior roles
GARY, Ind. — Indiana University Northwest Interim Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Dorothy Frink has been selected to participate in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ (AASCU) 2023 Emerging Leaders Program (ELP).
The six-month program aims to prepare emerging academic and administrative leaders to gain a greater appreciation of higher education while building their skillset, mindset and connections to lead important campus initiatives to advance to more senior leadership roles.
Through the curriculum, the 2023 ELP cohort will engage with a rich and experienced bench of faculty to cover topics such as academic affairs, alumni relations, change leadership, project management, and national trends impacting colleges and universities.
“I look forward to gaining additional best practice strategies and executive-level leadership skills within an accomplished learning community of academic and administrative leaders, as well as alongside my ELP cohort, which is comprised of 34 leaders from colleges and universities from around the country,” said Frink.
Additionally, each member of the ELP cohort will demonstrate their leadership skills to their campus community by leading an on-campus project or initiative with the support of their president/chancellor or cabinet-level administrator.
“The knowledge and experiences I’ll gain through ELP will equip me to better advance the IU Northwest mission and vision through challenges in the current and future educational landscape,” Frink added. “I look forward to leading a campus project which will match my passion for student enrollment management, while also helping our students to discover their best selves through higher ed.”
Frink joined IU Northwest in 2015 as the Director of Admissions and in 2020 was named Associate Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management. In her current role, she strategically leads Student Affairs and Enrollment Management by partnering with Academic Affairs, and all other areas of campus, to advance student enrollment, engagement, retention and graduation rates.
Among her many campus contributions, she helped establish the first Groups Scholars program among Indiana University regional campuses, served as a member of the cross-campus team which recently attained a $3 million Hispanic Serving Institution student success grant (INVEST), and co-leads the campus Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Team focusing on enrollment and retention. In 2019, she received the campus’s Distinguished Employee of the Year Excellence Award.
Frink earned her Ph.D. in Education Administration (Higher Education Leadership) at Indiana State University, studying minoritized students on academic probation.
