Recent promotions, appointments, accolades and more

Anja Matwijkiw

Professor of Professional Ethics and Human Rights Anja Matwijkiw, who is also the scientific coordinator for the International & European Criminal Law Observatory, is currently serving as co-investigator and chair of the U.S. Working Group on an interdisciplinary and international research project that spans South and North America and several countries in Europe on “Corruption linked to transnational organized crime (TOC): Responses from the foreign policy of the United States of America.”

Matwijkiw was also invited to contribute to a book chapter: “A Look Behind the Legal Scene: Philosophical Stakeholder Responses to Fundamental Human Rights” for Solidarity and Rule of Law. The New Dimension of EU Security. The book chapter is the “final output” of the Jean Monnet Module “EU-Western Balkans: Cooperation on Justice and Home Affairs.”

And, in March 2023, Matwijkiw was invited to be an international expert and scholar to address the topic of mass atrocities and human rights violations at the 7th International Spring Course, Mass Atrocities and Protection of Victims: War in Ukraine, EU Substantive Criminal Law and the Protection of Victims, Advanced Seminar-Training Course. Her presentation was entitled, “Regime Types, Mass Atrocities, and Other Human Rights Violations: Attempts to Weigh Ukraine’s Stakes.


Jokima Hiller

jokima-hospitality-magazine.jpgAssistant Professor of Management Jokima Hiller was recognized as one of the 30 “Most Influential Educators in Global Hospitality” by Global Hospitality Magazine (June 2023 issue.) Honorees, who hail from around the globe, were selected based on their transformational leadership and dedication to promoting hospitality education.
