The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, or Clery Act, requires the Indiana University Police Department to:
- maintain and make available a daily crime log, which provides certain details about crimes that are reported to IUPD that have occurred on campus, or within our Clery Act geography. These details include the date and time the crime occurred, the nature of the crime, the general location of the crime, and the disposition of the complaint, if known.
- alert the campus community to certain crimes in a manner that is timely and will aid in the prevention of similar crimes. Indiana University Police Department issues Crime Notices for any Clery Act crime that has occurred within our Clery Act geography where it has been determined that there is a serious or continuing threat to students and employees.
