To provide for the safety of members and campus property, minimum standards of conduct have been set for the members of the community and for those seeking admission here. These University standards of conduct do not replace civil and criminal laws, nor do they relieve individuals from complying with them. Unlawful behavior may result in criminal prosecution as well as disciplinary action.
Prior to hiring new employees, the University checks the backgrounds of many employees for criminal convictions. In addition, the University's employment application specifically asks prospective employees if they ever have been convicted of or are currently charged with any crime. Conviction of a serious crime may be grounds for the immediate dismissal of a University employee.
