Jason Becker is an English major in his junior year at IUN, who will be graduating in Spring 2019. In addition to being co-editor of Spirits, IUN's Art and Literary Journal, he is a member of both Student Alumni Association and Sigma Tau Delta. He has climbed the Alps and the Great Wall of China; swum in the Adriatic and Baltic Seas; and eaten dragonfly, scorpion, and dog.
Claudia Airey is a Communications major in her senior year at IUN who is minoring in English, and will be graduating in May of 2018. She is the Media Coordinator of Student Government, the Society Events Chair of IUN's National Society of Leadership and Success chapter, a member of Public Relations Student Society of America, and a member of the Student Activities Board. Claudia believes in working hard and strives to play her part in helping to make IUN feel like home away from home for others.
Becca Quiroz is a Social Work major in her junior year at IUN. She has a passion for helping people, which has driven her in her effort to work at the Writing Center and help people realize that writing can be fun. She is a member of IUN's chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success. She says, "IUN is unique because of the amount of diversity. I look forward to working with people of all backgrounds during my time at the Writing Center."
Alyssa Geraci is an English major pursuing a double minor in Psychology and Business Administration. She is in her third year at IUN and will be graduating in Spring 2019. After graduation, Alyssa hopes to pursue a Bachelor of Business and potentially attend law school. Her favorite part about being an English major is grammar and editing. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys watching Disney movies with her dog, a Shih Tzu, named Zoey-Blue.
Laila Nawab is a Chemistry major in her sophomore year at IUN. She is the President of the Muslim Student Association, and a member of the Pre-Professional Studies Club and Student Alumni Association. Following a Pre-Medicine track, Laila plans to become a physician.
LeAnn Powell is a junior at IUN who is majoring in English and Theatre. LeAnn tries to stay involved around campus; currently she is the Marketing Officer of Student Alumni Association, a member of Broadway Drama Society, and works for the Director of Alumni Relations. She has auditioned for both America's Got Talent and American Idol. In the 2017 Spring semester she had the opportunity to be involved with the Ten-Minute Play Festival where she both directed and acted in shows. Due to this experience, LeAnn is excited to broaden her theatre horizons. The 2017 Spring semester brought a lot of memorable experiences for LeAnn; she had her first piece of poetry published in Spirits, IUN's Art and Literary Journal. She hopes to continue to get her work published more frequently.
Rachel Calderone is studying English and Secondary English Education while minoring in Spanish. Aside from working in The Writing Center, she is Co-Editor of IUN's literary and arts magazine, Spirits; the president of IUN's English academic honor society, Sigma Tau Delta; and dances West Coast Swing. From this past May to August, she studied abroad in Bilbao, Spain, which allowed her to travel across Europe and close out the summer working for Dokufest, a documentary festival, in Prishtina, Kosovo.
